Rachel C. Vreeman, MD, MS, FAAP

A pediatrician and global health services researcher, Dr. Vreeman is the Chair of the Department of Global Health and Health System Design at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and Director of the Arnhold Institute for Global Health at Mount Sinai. She is also a Professor of Pediatrics. Dr. Vreeman specializes in building global partnerships with communities, public-serving health systems, academic medical institutions, governments, and businesses to develop, test, implement, and scale-up innovative solutions to the world's biggest health problems. Mount Sinai’s strategic global partnerships are based in Nepal (AMPATH Nepal), Kenya, Ghana, and Guyana, as well as a local-global partnership in Queens, NYC.
Dr. Vreeman's global clinical and research expertise grew over more than 20 years of work in Kenya within the AMPATH Kenya partnership. Dr. Vreeman’s research focuses on helping children living with HIV thrive into adulthood, including sustaining adherence to therapy for HIV, combatting HIV viral resistance, and strengthening youth resilience. She leads global research cohorts that study and address the challenges faced by adolescents living with HIV in resource-limited settings around the world.
