AMPATH Global Launches Nursing Webinar Series

Nurses play a central role in nearly every health system in the world, shaping patient care, strengthening communities and driving innovation across disciplines. On April 16, AMPATH Global launches a new quarterly webinar series, “AMPATH Leading Learning: Nursing Over the World (ALL NOW).”

The first session on April 16 will highlight the role of Advanced Practice Nurses, including Nurse Practitioners and Clinical Nurse Specialists, and the ways they contribute to care delivery and interdisciplinary collaboration in a range of global settings. As health systems face workforce shortages and rising demands, the conversation is both timely and urgent.

"We are seeing increasing demand for advanced nursing roles in many parts of the world," said Dr. Jane von Gaudecker, associate professor at the Indiana University School of Nursing. "This first session sets the tone for the series by highlighting how Advanced Practice Nurses contribute to stronger health systems and collaborative care."

The session will commence at 10 a.m. (EDT) and feature Karen S. Moore, Ph.D., D.N.P., APRN, ANP-BC, FNP-C, CGNC, FAANP, FAAN, who is a professor, director of the D.N.P. program and coordinator of global and planetary health at the Saint Louis University Trudy Busch Valentine School of Nursing and Janet S. Fulton, PhD, RN, ACNS-BC, ANEF, FCNS, FAAN, professor emerita at the Indiana University School of Nursing. Moderators are Tiffany Rader, MSN, RN, AGCNS-BC, FCNS, CMSRN, IU Health Adult Academic Health Center and Dr. Gladys Machira-Maripet, PhD, MScN, BScN, Nursing Council of Kenya.

The 60-minute live webinars are designed as a nursing-led forum where global health professionals can share practical experiences, evidence and strategies that strengthen care delivery, education and research. While AMPATH nursing leadership anchors the series, it is intended for a broad audience that includes colleagues from medicine, public health, education, research and allied health who are engaged in global partnerships.

Each session will feature two to three speakers from different regions of the world, offering brief presentations followed by a moderated discussion and interactive question and answer segment. The goal is to create space for honest dialogue and shared learning across disciplines.

Nurses from the AMPATH Global partnerships in Ghana, Kenya, Mexico and Nepal work together to coordinate the AMPATH Nursing group and the new webinar series.

Organizers hope participants will come away with a clearer understanding of global health challenges and the strategies being used to address them. They also aim to highlight how nursing leadership strengthens interdisciplinary efforts and to share approaches that can be adapted across settings.

The second session, scheduled for July 16, will focus on building community partnerships in Odisha, India.

Through ALL NOW, AMPATH hopes to build an ongoing learning community that reflects the central role nurses play in advancing global health partnerships worldwide.
